Two Russia’s fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 stealth fighter spotted in Khmemeim airbase in Syria according to a report of WaelAlHussaini.
As the SU57 has not yet entered serial production, This is an exceptional event.
According to ruaviation the fighter production will take place at Khabarovsk Region in the Russian Far East in 2018. “The Russian fifth-generation Perspective Aviation Complex of Frontline Aviation (PAK FA, also known as the T-50) fighter jet took to the skies for the first time in 2010. As was reported earlier, the cutting-edge fighter performed its first flight with a new engine on December 5, 2017. The pre-production batch will consist of 12 such planes”.
Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov said the first two planes of this batch might come into service in 2019. [Source: tass].
Officially, the Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the transfer to Syria of the Su-57, Write Meduza website.
According to nationalinterest the SU-57 has problems with the model’s engines, and it will not enter serial production until at least 2027. “The new engine is expected to make its first flight installed onboard the PAK-FA in the fourth quarter of 2017 and should be ready for use in 2025. The Russian air force could buy as many as 160 of the next iteration of Su-57.”
The decision to bring the SU57s to Syria at the development stage of the plane is apparently linked to the desire of the Russian army to test its systems under conditions of combat. It is not clear whether the SU57 will participate in attacks on targets in Syria, or will only be used to collect intelligence and test technical systems.
